FAQ

Q: When is the right time to start music lessons and how do I get started?

A: When you have the time to commit to weekly lessons and develop a daily practice routine with your child at home. Once you complete the online booking form, we will contact you to discuss your enquiry. Subject to availability in the programs, students may be placed on a waiting list. To avoid any disappointment, we encourage you to apply for your child to participate in one of our programs as early as possible before lesson times are full.

Q: Should my child start learning an instrument before they get involved in theory and musicianship classes?

A: No. Our programs are suitable for all school children that are simply interested to learn about the world of music despite whether they undertake instrumental lessons or not. While each family has personal preferences as to when they would like their child to start private music tuition, the great attraction about theory and musicianship classes is that these fundamentals apply to learning any instrument and do not require you to purchase and take responsibility for an instrument. They have been quite popular for this very reason.

Q: Can siblings attend the same Mini TrebleMakers class?

A: Yes. However, where possible, we recommend that siblings attend separate classes. This gives students the opportunity to build confidence and leadership skills with other students that are of similar age, music experience and maturity.

Testimonials

“Cardinia has a wonderful understanding of how to teach and keep young children engaged. She has a calming and patient attitude towards the lessons while still able to move seamlessly through her lesson plan and helping the children learn new concepts and making them stick. I recommend TrebleMakers to all young children who have an interest in music. Cardinia brings to life learning to read and creating music. Our 7 year old son looks forward to his TrebleMakers class every week as he enjoys the interaction and learning new and interesting things about music.” Sonia R.

“TrebleMakers is a fantastic music theory program for children that learn a musical instrument. It is vital for children to understand the foundation of music as it enhances their ability to recognise music notes and rhythms. My daughter always looks forward to having her lessons with Cardinia and she is more confident than ever. We are delighted with this program.” Peggy C.

“Thank you so much for the wonderful years that you have guided my daughter through the theory and musicianship classes. Your encouraging, thoughtful and detailed approach makes your class special and meaningful. The knowledge my daughter learns from your class has helped her build confidence in her daily flute exercise and also to an extent, enriched her understanding towards the music pieces that she’s been enjoying and practising.” Bei Z.

“Thank you so much for being such a great violin teacher to Nicholas. I am so glad that Nicholas also joined your TrebleMakers class because ever since he started attending he has been more interested in reading music and challenging himself. His overall musical ability has improved a great deal. A lot of his improvement is the result of your keen interest to impart the knowledge. I understand Music Theory extends beyond being able to read sheet music so needless to say, we look forward to having Nicholas participate in the program in the years to come.” Natasha S.

“My 9 year old has been learning violin for 2 years and started TrebleMakers this year (2017). Her violin teacher has commented on the improvement in her playing since and I attribute it to the fun filled lessons she has had every weekend with Cardinia. I wish I had music theory education that was as fun, I might have gotten a lot further! Thanks Cardinia for your patience, passion and enthusiasm to see your students thrive.” Lena T.

“My daughter enjoys Cardinia’s theory and musicianship class. I am surprised how much she has learned within a year. Cardinia is a very warm, positive, and patient teacher, the class content is well structured, students are fully engaged. Cardinia also communicates with parents well, with follow up emails after every class. I highly recommend TrebleMakers for any students who are interested in learning musicianship.” Sophia L.
